" The Object " CD
 
  The Sons of God aka Guds Soner is the collaborative project of Kent Tankred and Leif Elggren, the two well-known swedish artists. Their musical work is usually strongly correlated to performances and installations. On this record, the source material is definitevely strange and minimalist since it is the recordings of an old cold war german boat (the object). Using contact microphones, they tried by a kind of sonorous archeology to map-make this historic object. As a result, this CD is at the first listening one simple long track of deep minimal ambient. Then, you start to notice small variations in the omnipresent and concrete deep sounds as other fragile high-pitched resonances and metallic cracklings. The more the time passes, the more these subtle ambient sounds invade the room space and generate a cold strange emotion.
A challenging surrounding soundwork absolutely different from the usual poor productions of the ambient genre. After two and more listenings, this record became one of my favorite ones for the late night atmosphere.
